This page is all about the Camouflage and Adaptations of the Green Tree Frog.

Definition:the act, means, or result of obscuring things to deceive an enemy, as by painting or screening objects so that they are lost to view in the background, or by making up objects that have from a distance the appearance of fortifications, guns, roads, etc.

Normal Adaptations

Green tree frogs are medium-sized with a body length of upto six centimetres.  Males are slightly smaller than females and possess wrinkled throats. The Australian green tree frog can have a maximum body length of around 10 centimeters. They have golden eyes, horizontal irises, large toe pads and webbed toes. Green tree frog adaptations include adhesive pads on fingers and toes and protruding eyes that provide binocular vision. These features help these frogs to inhabit trees. Both these types are referred to as green tree frogs and there are people who raise these green tree frogs as pets.

Camouflage

Their body colour is green to blend in with the trees they live in, but different shades of green can be seen. However, some green tree frogs may change to brown. They also may have tiny white or gold spots on the body with a very smooth skin. Some green tree frogs possess a white or pale yellow-colored line that extends from the jaw to the upper lip and groin. The abdomen is also cream or white in color, but some small white spots can be seen on the back.
